Rabbi Dr. Asher Meir - Research Director

asher meirAsher Meir is Research Director of the Business Ethics Center of Jerusalem. He received his PhD in Economics from MIT, and previously studied at Harvard. He subsequently studied at various Israeli yeshivot, and received his Rabbinic ordination from the Israeli Chief Rabbinate. Prior to moving to Israel, he worked at the Council of Economic Advisers in the Reagan administration. He is also a Senior Lecturer in Economics at the Jerusalem College of Technology and has published several articles on the subjects of modern business and economics and Jewish law. For the past three years he has authored the weekly Jewish Ethicist Internet column which is seen by over 30,000 readers each week.


Moti Ben-Shushan - Deputy Director


Moti Ben-Shushan manages the daily operations of the Center. He is a managerial accounting graduate of the Jerusalem College of Technology. 


Nurit Hirsch - Education and Training Director

 
Nurit Hirsch has a rich history in both teaching students and running seminars for teachers throughout Israel. Nurit was in charge of writing and publishing the Center's Guide for Teachers which deals with Intellectual Property and teaching this subject to high school students. She serves as advisor to a number of non-profit organizations to assist in developing educational materials for schools and the Ministry of Education.


Ruth Tsuria – Coordinator of Corporate Programs

Ruth Tsuria is responsible for promoting the Center's programs within the Israeli corporate world. She coordinates the Center's monthly seminars, as well as the Hebrew language website.


Rabbi Yoel Domb - Researcher


Rabbi Domb teaches business ethics at the Jerusalem College of Technology. He is also a research fellow at the Center for Business Ethics in Jerusalem and Machon Keter.

Dr. Mark Schwarz

Dr. Mark Schwartz is Lecturer of Business Ethics in the Legal Studies Department at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University (1991), and received his MBA (1991) and PhD (1998) from the Schulich School of Business, York University focusing on the subject of business ethics. At the Schulich School of Business he taught courses in business law and business ethics, and was the Associate Director of the Business Ethics Program. He is a Research Fellow of the Center for Business Ethics, Bentley College, in Massachusetts and a former director of the Ethics Practitioners' Association of Canada. He holds certificates from the Ethics Officer Association ("Managing Ethics in Organizations") and the Josephson Institute of Ethics ("Ethics in the Workplace"). He is the author of several journal articles and a co-author of the textbook Business Ethics: Readings and Cases in Corporate Morality (McGraw Hill). He has appeared on North American television, radio, magazines, and newspapers providing commentary on business ethics-related topics, and has consulted to a number of North American companies on corporate compliance and business ethics. 


Lydia E. Kess

Lydia Kess
is senior counsel in the Tax Department of Davis Polk & Wardwell,
and served as  practice coordinator of the department from 1991-1994.
She joined Davis Polk in 1964 and became its first woman partner in
1971. She served on the Pace University Board of Trustees from 1970-2000
and on the Board of the Presbyterian Hospital in the City of New York
from 1972-2000


Akiva Wolff
 
Akiva Wolff, director of the environmental responsibility unit, lectures to yeshiva, seminary and college students on Jewish perspectives on environmental topics. Akiva is currently completing his doctoral thesis, as well as writing a book on man and his environment in the Jewish sources. He has a MA and BS in environmental management and worked as an environmental consultant before making aliya.


David Gebler


David Gebler is the President of Working Values. Since founding the company in 1993 as a strategic communications and learning agency, David has become a recognized thought leader in the emerging field of values-based ethics. Working Values has maintained a reputation as an innovator of new approaches to raise the awareness of ethics and values in major organizations.

As the company's senior practice leader and strategist, David works with clients to shape program goals and articulate the links between the organization's values and the behaviors required to implement those values.

A business lawyer by training, David received his Juris Doctor from the University of California in Davis. As an attorney in private practice, David gained extensive experience in regulatory and software licensing issues. David worked in Israel for CBS Records International as Director of Business Affairs, and as a staff lawyer for El Al Israel Airlines. David became familiar with the regulatory and compliance issues of public companies while serving as Corporate Counsel for Gamma International.


Dr. Avi Kay

Avi Kay is the Chairman of the Business Management and Marketing Technology department at the Jerusalem College of Technology. Originally from Chicago, IL, he has previously taught at Loyola University in the US and at Hebrew University in Israel. He has also served as the Dean of Students at Touro College.
